Social Justice – “Safe Medford” Involvement

A group of Medford residents is now meeting to discuss various issues around making Medford a safer community for all. Their Purpose Statement reads: “Safe Medford is a grass-roots group advocating for policies, services, and education to support and ensure the safety and dignity of all community members regardless of immigration status.” Ilene Lerner is currently attending the group’s meetings as a representative of our Social Justice Committee. We’re also seeking to coordinate our work with other local UU churches, like Malden, and with the policies of the UUA. If you’d like to get involved in this effort, too, there are two ways of doing it:

1. Join the local group’s list directly (thereby receiving all emails, notices of meetings, and so on) by sending a request to safemedford@gmail.com
2. Coordinate our UUCM work on this issue in this group and elsewhere with Ilene by writing her directly at ilenele@verizon.net.
