In 2019, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Medford received a generous donation from the estate of Janice Brenner. In May of that year, the congregation voted to establish a scholarship fund in the amount of $4000 to honor Janice Brenner and her parents, including her mother, June Brenner, who was head of the Religious Education program of our church at one time.
The Fund will be used to provide scholarships to attend educational and enrichment activities related to personal, educational or professional goals. The Fund is open to all youth or young adults (23 or younger) who attend our RE programs or who otherwise participate in our Church Community. Those who are awarded a scholarship will be asked to share their growth experience with the Congregation.
An application form is available to youth and their families who wish to apply for support; please also see the guidelines for submitting an application. Applications should indicate the individual’s involvement in the Church Community, the purpose for which support is sought, and a description of how the purpose will assist the individual in pursuing their personal, educational or professional goals.Â
Support for any one individual in any one year will be limited to $500.
Members and friends of UUCM may contribute to the Brenner Scholarship Fund by check made payable to Unitarian Universalist Church of Medford, with the notation Brenner Scholarship Fund.
