Dear Friends,
Come join us for an open discussion of current issues at UUCM after the service on February 10 in the Moore Room starting around 12:30 for no more than an hour. This will be a mid-year check-in, a time to share your ideas on how things are going this year.
In particular, we want to hear your input on what the Brenner bequest might be used for. Out of their $60,000 gift, $17,000 has been repaid to our ministerial and general endowment funds for the amounts withdrawn last year to cover unanticipated plumbing expenses, and $2000 has been sent to the UUA to make up for some of the suggested membership fees we have not been able to pay. $41,000 remains. We’ll collect ideas on small projects and large, including RE related ones. We’re also interested in your thoughts on what the split on saving or spending this generous bequest should be. From your input on 1/20, the Board will prepare an expenditure plan to submit for a vote of the congregation at a Special Meeting or at the Annual Meeting in May.
We’ll give you an update on how the Board discussion of Robin DiAngelo’s White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard for White People to Talk about Racism and make some copies of this book and the UUA Ministers Association book Centering: Navigating Race, Authenticity, and Power in Ministry available on loan for those who are interested.
We’ll talk about ideas for how to communicate church information. There will also be some time for you to raise questions you may have.
