Marsha Lawson will lead a day of mindfulness on Saturday, January 20, from 10 am to 3 pm in the Moore Room (walking in the Sanctuary or outside, bring warm clothes for walking). No prior meditation experience needed. Anyone interested in and/or curious about meditation is welcome. This day will focus on exploring and identifying habit patterns of thought, reactivity and behavior that bring us stress (frustration, angst, anger, anxiety, etc.); also, exploring what it means to know you have choices about how to be and act in the world, be kind to yourself in the process, and the freedom that comes with this knowing and kindness. The day will include sitting and walking meditation, metta (gentle friendliness, compassion, empathetic joy, and equanimity) meditation, poetry and other readings. It will also include a group sharing, and tea at the end of the meditation day. Please bring your lunch. The day, including lunch, will be held in silence except for the group sharing towards the end of the event. All meditations will be guided in some fashion. RSVP and for more information, contact Marsha Lawson: Mjlawson118@gmail.com.
