It is May, a new month and a new theme: Creativity. What does it mean to be a people of creativity?
I’m sure there are those that think they don’t have a creative bone in their bodies, because you perceive of creativity in a distinct way, as relates to the arts. But creativity can manifest in all sorts of ways, and often in partnership with others. On Sunday we will be exploring “Co-Creativity: Who Are Your Partners?” As human beings we are constantly creating even when if feels like we aren’t. We are only limited by our imaginations.
Molly Ruggles will join us on piano, the choir will sing, DRE extraordinaire Mimi Olivier will weave her magic and I’ll do one or two things as well. ?
And, I have a special invitation for you: I want to transform the sanctuary over the month of May into a space of creativity in action, if you will. I invite all of you, children, youth and adults to bring in something to put up on our sanctuary walls to begin the transformation, and you can bring in something each week. We will only have masking tape to work with so plan accordingly. However, if we have potters or engineers, or something that needs a table we’ll set up the tables in the back (like we did for the plants) to place them on. As I understand it we keep the sanctuary locked, so everyone’s precious objects should be safe if that is a concern. This doesn’t need to be something you make now, although that is fine, but something whose creativity calls to you for whatever reason. You could even put a little explanation of why you chose it with it. It can be the written word, something in a box that has to be felt without seeing it…We are only limited by our imaginations.
Please take this invitation seriously, as I am asking you to be my creativity partner and to be partners to each other and see what we create together in our most sacred space. Come with an open mind and heart, a curiosity and a willingness to do something different. But COME and let’s have some fun together!!
