Sunday Service: Jesus and the Disinherited

Join us for our Sunday Service on January’s theme of Living with Intention led by Rev. Bruce Taylor.

As a Christian minister and a member of an oppressed minority, Howard Thurman came to distinguish between the Christianity of the oppressor and what he called “the religion of Jesus”. He recognized Jesus as a prophetic human being who brought a message of liberation to all people who lived with their “backs against the wall”. Today’s service reflects on Thurman’s book, Jesus and the Disinherited, which inspired Martin Luther King, Jr. in his own work of liberation.
