Sunday Service: Everyday Poetics

Join us for a Sunday Service led by Rev. Rand Peabody.

Everyday Poetics: This service will explore our need to awaken and articulate enhanced degrees of personal development through our opening up channels of creative activity – beyond the mere journaling of insights or occurrences, valuable as such observing and recording can surely be. It will also draw upon the playwright Thornton Wilder, and the poet John Keats, to connect our “everyday poetics” to the forging of the sort of individual identity that actualizes what the Hebrew Bible pictures as an “image of the divine” possessed by every human being.  And while pursuing our creative endeavors can utilize many different avenues of personal artistic expression, we will explore examples of two readily accessible forms of poetry – haiku writing, and “snapshot poems.” In the same light, Rev. Rand will also refer to Michael Glenn’s practice of writing “Dream Poetry.”
