Hello everyone!
I am delighted to be returning as the Director of Music at UUCM again this year, and I hope all of you are excited for a diverse spread of guest ministers and special music! I appreciate the feedback everyone gave in the congregation survey at the end of last year, and I and the rest of the Worship Committee and Board are working to integrate things into our regular services this year.
A few things to note-
- Our choir is open to ANYONE, regardless of musical experience or singing style. I aim to choose songs that are familiar to people, so that we can learn by listening without having to read the sheet music. We go over words and notes in the rehearsals, and make sure everyone feels comfortable with the song. Give it a try- come out and sing with us! Community music making is a proven mood booster (among other benefits) and is a great way for us to connect as a congregation.
- I will be sending out a choir-specific email to the individuals I have on the choir email list, and this is where choir dates and repertoire announcements will be made. If you are not on the choir email list and would like to be, please find me in person after a service or reply to this email.
- If you do not want to be involved in choir, but have a solo or ensemble number of any kind or genre, please contact me so we can get it set up on the calendar. It was so heartwarming and welcoming in the spring to have so many people get up and sing or play solos who are normally not at the front of services!
- Because of the earlier start time this year, choir rehearsals will take place on choir sundays from 9:30-10:00, instead of starting at 10. Please keep this in mind when deciding which services you’d like to participate in.
I am very much looking forward to another great year! Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
