Holidays and Traditions
At UUCM, we observe a number of special services for holidays and other events, most of which have become annual traditions. Many of the special services are intergenerational services, in which the children remain with the adults the entire time and participate in worship in various ways.
- Homecoming Sunday – first Sunday after Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Service with Harvest Communion – Sunday before Thanksgiving
- Winter Solstice Service – a celebration of the dark and the coming of light
- Christmas Eve – service of carols, candle lighting and readings
- Martin Luther King Jr. Sunday – a recommitment to the dream
- Easter – a celebration of the possibilities of rebirth
- Flower Communion – a beautiful ceremony to celebrate community (June)
- Religious Education Sunday – a reflection on learning and a thank you to teachers
